Stoney Creek (Wintergreen) 2/25/12

Strong winds continued today with gusts more than 50 m.p.h., and there were white caps on Lake Monocan, so I headed back and explored along the street where we live. I saw a small flock of birds near Sawmill Creek pond #4 - they were Rusty Blackbirds, males and females in various non-breeding to breeding plumages. I am sure of at least eight of them, and when they flew away, at least four more took off along with the flock. However, at least one of them was a Red-winged Blackbird, so I am not sure of the total number of Rustys.
