Walt Childs led a small but enthusiastic group of birders on the trail this morning, and 33 species were seen. Highlights included Louisiana Waterthrush, Grasshopper Sparrow, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, and Eastern Kingbird.
When I got home I checked on the Red-shouldered Hawk's nest, and papa was bringing some food to the three chicks, and then made a pass at the top of my head! The chicks have to be close to taking flight lessons.
