Rockfish Valley Trail 9/24/13

All photos are © Marshall Faintich

It was overcast when I arrived at the trail at 9:00, but there was decent avian activity. By 10:00, I had logged 22 species, and added another 8 species in the next half hour. There was a small flock of Magnolia and Black-throated Green Warblers on the east side of Reids Creek across from the bog area, and a Palm Warbler in the tall grasses near route 627. I did not see any Ruby-throated Hummingbirds this morning.

I was able to photograph a Swainson's Thrush from quite a distance, bringing this September's cumulative trail list to 72 species.   Click here to see the current September 2013 trail list.
