Bitterly cold temperatures and wide-spread snow across central Virginia have continued, and once again, my birding was constrained to periods of watching my bird feeder through a window. A new feeder bird showed up - a female Eastern Towhee. Although this is a common species here, I have never seen one at a feeder.

The Carolina Wren returned, and continued to throw lots of seed onto the ground. At least the birds on the ground by the feeder were happy about this.
