Rockfish Valley Trail 3/31/15

There have been reports of Louisiana Waterthrushes returning to the area. I went over to the trail this morning to look for this species, but there was too much water flowing rapidly in the Rockfish River for this species to settle there. Although I ended up with 21 avian species, the trail wasn't very "birdy." The best birds were a Ruby-crowned Kinglet showing it crown, a pair of Belted Kingfishers, and a distant Sharp-shinned Hawk. The most numerous birds were Tree Swallows and Eastern Bluebirds, and both species were getting their nesting boxes ready.
