Strong rains were forecasted for later in the day and overnight, but I was able to get out and take a short hike in the morning before the rains moved in. I saw about 25 avian species here in Old Trail.

We had thunderstorms and 3+ inches of rain, but the sky cleared in the mid-afternoom, and I ventured out to see what species the storms might have brought in. The was a good size flock of Cedar Waxwings flying over the golf course pond, as well as Ruddy Ducks and a couple of American Coots. One of the Ruddy Ducks still had its juvenile plumage.

A good-sized Black Ratsnake was drying out on the path. If you look closely, you can see my silhouette reflection in its eye.

There was a lot of activity at the retention pond behind the lodge. I saw my First Of Season Yellow Warbler (my Old Trail species #114).
