Old Trail; October 27-30

Lots of things keeping me busy these days, but I did have time to take a few short hikes here in Old Trail. I was surprised to see that the Osprey is still hanging around the golf course pond. I had to look twice to realize that the ruby crest on the Kinglet below was not a berry as it was almost exactly the same color.

Lickinghole Creek and Reservoir; October 31

I had more free time today, so I went over to the Lickinghole Creek and Reservoir, and also hiked a short distance on the adjacent Crozet Connector Trail. I logged 25 avian species, and then added 3 more avian species along the Connector Trail. I saw a fox in the marsh/reed area at the north end of the reservoir but was unable to get a photo of it. I have seen lots of foxes in the Crozet area, but this was the first one I have ever seen by the reservoir. Best bird of the day was a Winter Wren along the Connector Trail.
