The Old Trail community has been growing by leaps and bounds, and unfortunately, a good deal of wildlife habitat is being destroyed. Although I understand that a good portion of the land has been designated for new home development, I have been advocating the protection of wildlife habitat where possible. The left side of the image below shows the southern half of Old Trail about two years ago (white lines show birding trails), and the right side shows the same area at the end of last summer. The large dirt area at the right is now about 50% built out.

I hiked here two days ago and again this morning, and each day saw about 20 avian species.

I also saw the partial remains of a small mammal. The skull was about 4 inches long, and I am thinking it was a fox.
