Crozet, VA; 3/11/19

I went over to Lickinghole Creek and Reservoir. The trail is still very muddy [4-wheel drive feet recommended :-)]. Although I logged 21 avian species there, it wasn't very "birdy," and most of the birds I did see were distant. I saw a lone Killdeer on the gravel bar, and the only ducks I saw were a pair of Mallards. I ran into another birder who had already been there for a while, and he said that a few Wood Ducks and Green-winged Teals had been there this morning, but had flown away.

The highlight of the hike was seeing a pair of Bald Eagles in their re-built nest that had been detroyed at the end of February last year.
