I took advantage of the cooler weather and hiked here in Old Trail. As expected, good weather on a weekend morning meant that there were lots of hikers, joggers, bikers, and dogs on the trails, but I still managed to log 24 avian species. Warblers must be on the move, as I saw a Black and White Warbler, a Chestnut-sided Warbler, and a Red-eyed Vireo foraging together, and these species are not summer residents here.

Immature birds and some of the regulars were out along the trails.

A young Great Blue Heron was fishing along the golf course pond. Most of the time, it had its bill open with its tongue waving. Never have seen this behavior before. It only closed its bill a few times.
