Lickinghole Creek and Reservoir; 4/10/2020

With temperatures in the mid-40s and a brisk wind, I didn't think that there would many people hiking at Lickinghole Creek and Reservoir. There were more people than I had expected, but it wasn't too crowded. However, the winds kept the smaller birds hunkered down, and I ended up with only 20 avian species. One of the Bald Eagles was in the nest.

Old Trail; 4/11/2020

The winds died down this morning, but the temperatures started out in the lower 30s, so it was a bit chilly. However, it warmed up fairly quickly, and in a couple of hours I had 32 avian species here, including 20 that I hadn't seen the day before, giving me a two-day bird list of 40 avian species. I saw a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks circling high up. Later in my hike, I was talking with two other OId Trail residents (from a safe social distance+), and they said that they had seen six hawks circling - probably Red-shouldered, and a large raptor with an all white underside. That must have been a migrating Osprey, but I never saw one this morning.
