I had thought that the Blue Grosbeaks that were along Slabtown Branch Creek near our home had gone as of a couple of weeks ago. We had late afternoon thunderstorms, and more rain overnight. In the evening, Alice and I went for a short walk near our house, and I captured this rainbow. I also heard a Blue Grosbeak along the creek, and decided to look for it when I had the chance.

We were supposed to have on and off thunderstorms all day, but it cleared mid-morning, so I took a late morning hike to look for the Blue Grosbeak. I hadn't gone very far when it appeared.

I continued on my short hike, and ended up with 16 avian species. The large, white Rock Pigeon was still hanging out at the Lodge.

I saw a first year, male Northern Cardinal starting to get its adult plumage. I was surprised that at least part of its bill was not black, and had completely turned to adult color.
