The remnants of Hurricane Zeta passed through here yesterday and last night. I got a late start and didn't leave the house until 10:40, and ended up with 25 avian species in a little less than 2 hours. There were more dark clouds than blue sky, and I slogged my way through wet grass everywhere. There were lots of puddles from the rain, even in lower areas of the gravel trails. I did see my first of season Brown Creeper, and at least 4 Tennessee Warblers in 3 locations (2 in one area, and single birds elsewhere) in the tall grasses aound the Western Park wetlands. This is the latest fall date I have seen Tennessee Warblers in Virginia.
