With summer birds already leaving, and migrating/winter birds still two to three weeks away, birds seem to be few and far between. This report covers three mornings of birding, with a combined list of 38 avian species.
Old Trail; Crozet, VA; August 3It was fairly overcast this morning, and as I had afternoon appointments in Charlottesville, I did a short hike here in Old Trail and ended up with 22 avian species.

The only wablers I saw were along Route 610, and there were very few birds along the parkway. I ended up with 23 avian species this morning.

Up on the parkway at Hickory Springs Overlook (mm. 12), I saw a perched, juvenile Broad-winged Hawk. It stayed there for a few minutes, and then took off, and was joined by another juvenile Broad-winged Hawk.

I did the same route as yesterday, and saw almost the same mix of avian species, and ended up with 24 avian species. I only heard one Cerulean Warbler, got a quick look at one Hooded Warbler, saw a couple American Redstarts, and one Black and White Warbler.

When I got up to Hickory Springs Overlook (mm. 12), I saw a juvenile Broad-winged Hawk perched on the same branch as yesterday.
