I went back up to the parkway again this morning, and opted to skip Route 610 first, and then go there later after the sun was higher and the trees along 610 would be in more sunlight. So my first stop was at the south, upper end of the cirque (mm. 7.5). It was loaded with birds. Many of these birds appeared briefly and then disappeared in the dense tree foliage. But I logged 18 avian species at this stop, including 8 warbler species; American Redstart, Black and White, Black-throated Green, Cerulean (heard only), Chestnut-sided, Hooded, Tennessee (my 36th warbler species photographed in 2021), and Worm-eating.

I continued down to Three Ridges Overlook, and then turned around to get onto Route 610 at mm. 4. On Route 610, I saw another Hooded Warbler, another American Redstart, and another Worm-eating Warbler, and by the time I got off the mountain, I had 29 avian species on my day list.

I then did a short hike at Ridgeview Park in Waynesboro, and added four more avain species to my daylist, including a Magnolia Warbler (poor photos, but identifiable, and my 37th warbler species photographed in 2021).
