We dodged a bullet with the remnants of Hurricane Ida here in central Virginia. Although we had significant rain Tuesday and Wednesday, and tornado warnings that kept me up well past midnight on Tuesday into Wednesday, there wasn't a lot of damage here other than lots of small tree branches down. I went up to Route 610 and the parkway this morning. Temperatures were in the mid-50s with dry air and sunny skies, although brisk winds kept a lot of the birds hunkered down. I did see a few warbler species, and a small flock of at least six Red-eyed Vireos.
