Before heading over to the Roackfish Gap Hawk Watch open house, I did a quick stop at one of may favorite warbler sites on the parkway, the upper, south end of the cirque on the parkway (mm. 7.5). But it was really quiet, and then I saw why.

It was fun to see lots of birding friends at the open house, but there weren't many raptors moving through today.
September 19Same drill today as yesterday, but today was quite different. I logged 18 avian species at the south end of the cirque, including 7 warbler species. One of them was a Blackpoll, my 40th warbler species photographed in 2021.

Hawks and other raptors were more numerous today, and when a Black-throated Blue Warbler flew by, I got my 9th warbler species of the day. There were a few small kettles of Broad-winged Hawks.
