The weather here during the past week has been quite variable. Starting out with sunny skies and hot, humid air, cool fronts brought stormy weather and a 20 degree temperature drop with overcast skies. I was able to get out and do three, one to two hour hikes, and ended up with at least 32 avian species.

I'm fairly certain that there is a Killdeer nest in the tall grass just to the west of the fenced in construction parking area along Old Trail Drive. As I was driving by, a Killdeer flew in front of me, and when I stopped and got out of my car, it made a lot of noise to attract my attention, ran across Golf Drive, and then feigned a broken wing. This is typical Killdeer behavior to move potential predators away from their ground nest. I did not walk into the tall grass to look for it.
