Old Trail; May 29

The weather here has been quite hot and muggy, and with all the holiday people out and about, I did only a short hike here in Old Trail.

We had friends over for dinner and were eating out on our patio, when a Black Ratsnake crawled under our patio door and onto the patio. It soon realized that there were people around, so it said good-bye and made its exit.

Old Trail; May 30

Same as yesterday, but ever hotter and muggier, so I tried to stay in shaded areas as much as possible. I did hear a Bobwhite calling a couple of times. It may have been a Mockingbird imitating a Bobwhite, but our large Mockingbird flock stays fairly local, so none of them would have picked up this song elsewhere. Bobwhites have been seen here in Old Trail in the past, but not by me, so I am counting this one as my Old Trail species #160.

And I saw another Black Ratsnake.
